Jonathan Reed was Davey Hansen's close friend in the Lutheran stop action animation cartoon Davey and Goliath. As an African-American he was perhaps the first African-American character to appear in a television cartoon, and one of the first African-American characters to appear as a friend of a television show's (white) lead character. His father was a pharmacist. Jonathan's race only became an issue in the episode, Different. His character was voiced by Hal Smith.
