Bill Block is a Hollywood producer and financier of studio films. Over his four-decade career in entertainment, Block has produced, financed, packaged and distributed close to a hundred theatrical feature films, working with such filmmakers as Oliver Stone, Neill Blomkamp, Steven Soderbergh, Jon Favreau, David Koepp, Darren Aronofsky, Peter Jackson, Woody Allen, and Barry Levinson. Block founded film finance, production and sales company QED International in 2002. As CEO of QED, he has produced such films as Neill Blomkamp's District 9 and Elysium, Oliver Stone's W and David Ayer's WWII thriller Fury starring Brad Pitt. He soon left QED and launched Merced Media with producer Kevin Frakes. Before QED, Block led the leveraged buyout, along with Bain Capital, of Live Entertainment, a publicly traded video company, which became Artisan Entertainment, an independent film powerhouse known for such films as The Blair Witch Project; The Buena Vista Social Club; Darren Aronofsky's Pi and Requiem For A Dream; The Limey directed by Steven Soderbergh; The Ninth Gate starring Johnny Depp and directed by Roman Polanski; and David Koepp's Stir of Echoes and Made starring Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn. He also produced Jon Lucas's Bad Moms. Before Artisan, Block was Head of West Coast Operations for International Creative Management and founder of the Intertalent Agency, where he represented such artists as Kim Basinger, Samuel L. Jackson, Steven Seagal, Charlie Sheen, John Travolta, Forest Whitaker, Sam Raimi, Roland Emmerich and William Friedkin. Block grew up in New York City and attended Columbia University. He lives in Los Angeles with his actress wife Eugenia Kuzmina, two sons and a daughter.
