Ben Holland

Ben Holland (born 10 May 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League. Holland was drafted in 1994 to the Fitzroy Football Club, but chose to stay and develop in the SANFL with his local club North Adelaide for a year. He was subsequently traded at the end of the 1995 season playing his first AFL game for the Richmond Football Club in 1996 in a Richmond win against Brisbane Lions. Holland was an integral part of the successful 2001 Tigers season where he held down the centre half back position. Holland suffered a knee injury in 2002 and missed 14 months of football. He kicked 124 goals and played 125 games over 8 years for the Tigers. In 2004 he was part of a successful trade out of the Richmond Football Club manufacturing a move to the Melbourne Football Club where he played in the 2004, 2005, 2006 AFL finals series again playing key forward and back roles. He played 5 seasons at the Demons under inspirational coach Neale Daniher. Holland played a stellar 191 game career spanning 13 years at both Richmond (8 years) and Melbourne (5 years) football clubs. He kicked 180 goals despite playing more than half his career in defence. He appeared in 8 finals games. He is an AFL 200 Club Life Member.
