Angad Singh

Angad Singh Nawanshahr is an Indian politician and businessman hailing from the Nawanshahr district of Punjab. In 2017, aged 26 years, he became one of the youngest members to be elected to the Punjab Legislative Assembly. He is the youngest amongst the four children of Sardar Parkash Singh and Smt.Guriqbal Kaur. Public service is not new to him or his family. Sardar Dilbag Singh, his grandfather served as a cabinet minister in the S. Beant Singh government. Subsequently, both his parents were also elected as members of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. At an early age he was sent to Bishop Cotton School (Shimla), a boarding school nestled in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. However, his last years of school education were completed in Punjab due to his father's failing health. In 2016, he finished his graduation in Business Administration. He is currently in the process of pursuing a Master's degree in Public Administration. Although formally educated, he attributes most of his learning to the lessons learnt in the 'school of hard knocks' i.e. by being around his father during the last years of his tryst with cancer. It was during this time that he developed the eagerness to understand the problems of the common man, he attributes his ability to empathize with people to the time spent interacting with patients in different hospitals during this difficult phase. In the political field, he is considered a grassroots leader as he started nurturing Nawanshahr right from age 17. He has also served as the District Youth Congress President.
