Alondra Nelson (born 1968), an American writer and academic, is President of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC). An award-winning researcher, she is also the Harold F. Linder Chair in the School of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study. She was previously professor of sociology at Columbia University in the City of New York, where she served as the inaugural Dean of Social Science, as well as Director of the Institute for Research on Women, Gender and Sexuality. She writes and lectures widely on the intersections of science, technology, and social inequality. She has authored or edited four books including, most recently, The Social Life of DNA: Race, Reparations, and Reconciliation after the Genome.
